This Small California Town Has the Best Grilled Cheese Sandwich
I fully believe “Grilled cheese” is a universal language that most people speak!
Last month I was wine tasting with a friend of mine throughout the Tri-Valley. After a fun week of traveling through Lodi and Sacramento, we ended our trip in Pleasanton. We hit up the charming farmers market on Satuday morning and worked up a pretty decent appetite. We headed off to brunch at a charming little spot called Sabio On Main. What awaited us that day will be burned in my mind forever… their Truffle Honey Grilled Cheese on Brioche Bread.
This grilled cheese was the best I had ever tasted. It was filled with luscious, gooey, rich truffled cheese, on toasted brioche bread. But what made it come alive was the honey that was lavishly drizzled on top. It was the ultimate combination of sweet and salty. It was then sprinkled with salt flakes on top, giving your mouth the perfect symphony of crunchy, salty, sweet, & savory.
2 slices of brioche
1/3 cup grated gruyere cheese
1/3 cup grated white cheddar
1 teaspoon white truffle oil
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 tablespoon of Your favorite honey
1. Sprinkle half the grated cheese over one piece of bread, drizzle the truffle oil, then top with remaining cheese. Sprinkle with a little salt, and place the second piece of bread on top.
2. Heat a medium sauté pan over medium high heat, and spread one tablespoon of butter on the outside of one piece of the bread. Place the sandwich, buttered bread-side down, in the pan and cook until golden brown (about 3 minutes).
3. Spread the second piece of bread with the remaining tablespoon of butter before flipping the sandwich over. Cook on the second side until the bread is crispy and browned and the cheese is melted.
4. Drizzle with your favorite honey
